Use it when the thought lands. Two minutes is enough. Write all three answers, even the one that feels pointless.
A free printable reframing worksheet: write the thought, name the distortion, then answer it three ways — realist, growth, compassionate. PDF, no email.
A reframing worksheet turns one harsh thought into a kinder, more accurate response on paper. This one is the daily page from the MindLift Reframe Workbook: write the thought word for word, tick the distortion, rate how much you believe it from 0 to 10, answer it three ways — realist, growth and compassionate — and rate it again.
Write the thought word for word. Not the tidy version. “I said too much. She’s tired of me.” is the sentence you’re answering, so that’s the sentence that goes on the page.
Name the shape before you argue with it. Tick the distortion it took and rate how much you believe it, 0 to 10. Naming the trap puts a little distance between you and the sentence.
Answer it three ways. Realist: what do I actually know, and what did I fill in? Growth: if this were true, what would the next hour look like? Compassionate: would I let anyone speak to someone I love like this?
Re-rate and note which answer landed. One of the three usually bounces off — that’s expected. Rate the belief again and circle the answer that worked; over a week you’ll see which one fits you.
Print it as many times as you need. The Print button prints this sheet only, on one page of A4 or US Letter.

The PDF includes this example as its second page.
A thought record weighs evidence for and against a thought to reach one balanced thought. The reframing worksheet answers the thought from three angles — realist, growth and compassionate — because a thought that is cruel rather than merely inaccurate needs a change of tone, not just more evidence.
Write them anyway and re-rate honestly; a small drop counts. If the compassionate answer is the one you can’t write, that is useful information in itself — it usually points to a shortage of permission, not of evidence.
It is the workbook’s daily page on its own. The full 16-page workbook adds the six-stage thought loop, the ten-distortion reference, a warm-up page and a seven-day review, and it is an optional download with a newsletter opt-in.
No. Print it from this page or download the PDF directly — no email, no sign-up. If you want more, the 16-page Reframe Workbook is a separate, optional download that is sent with a newsletter opt-in.
Yes, as a self-help skills tool. It uses the same format CBT therapists use, but it is not treatment and does not replace it. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, contact local emergency services or a crisis line (in the US, call or text 988).
